MIKE JONATHAN

Mike has been a directing cameraman and director for over 26 years working in television and film, also making award winning documentaries such as “Making Good Men” in 2017 which won best doco of the year at the NZTV awards,  “Target Zero”, a documentary following Mike King’s journey to bring suicide numbers to zero, “Freezing Works”, following Kiwis going to Iceland to work in their meat processing plants for 2 months and “Road to the Globe”, about Māori actors performing Shakespeare’s play, Troulus and Cressida in Te Reo Māori to a London world audience.  Mike has also made an array of Māori short films that have won International acclaim.

Committed to the development of Rotorua and of the wider region, we are youthful yet experienced; we are passionate about our craft and strive to create a high quality product. We are bi-cultural with networks in both the mainstream and Maori media. We are passionate about our Maori Culture and capacity building our rangatahi. We are active members within the community with fresh innovative ideas and access to a dynamic group of industry practitioners also passionate about working and living in Rotorua and about sustaining a thriving Screen Industry in our region.

PIRIPI CURTIS

Managing Director of Hikoi NZ Ltd, Piripi Curtis was previously a school teacher, however was lured away from the classroom to join his brother Richard Curtis who is a seasoned camera operator with over 20 years experience in the television industry. The brothers share an interest in hunting, so through Richard's television contacts the two went on to pitch a hunting show to Maori Television an Indigenous television network in New Zealand and well the rest is history.
